Cow surgery....and life

So judging by the comments I've been getting.....it has been a long time since I've posted anything. Life is good. Jarvis has really taken to the studying thing (who would have thought that would happen....but I guess when you're married to me there's not a lot to do!). He's taking some farm management courses on the side. Right now it's economics and so, believe it or not he actually is studying in all his spare time. It's really weird for me!

Here's Jarv and Kai this summer at the offleash dog park. We turned our dog into a water dog. Now he's a super swimmer!

Tomorrow I get to do my first surgery on a live animal. Well, you say, aren't you in third year and shouldn't you have done surgery before. Of course, I've assisted in many and I've also performed many a surgery on a cat cadaver.....however, this is the first time that something which I am going to be responsible for has to live after I take a knife to it! I'm pretty excited though. I get to open up the right flank and then explore the abdomen, and then I will perform an omentopexy (which is a procedure we do to help correct a displaced stomach in the cow). Then I get to close her up and see if she survives!!! I'll let you know how it goes!

Anyhow, I thought I'd add a few pictures to this post just cause it's always fun to look at pictures. The first one is Jarvis and my dad. My parents came up here a few weekends ago to help us start framing our basement.

This second one is of me and Jarv in the summer when we went home for Norah's grad. I can't believe she's in university already. The other guy in the pic is her boyfriend Zach.

Hey Buddy!
I think this blogging business could be a very good thing for all of us to keep in touch better. Good to hear what you've been up to and see some pics - I like it best when there are pics. Anyhow, it would be great to see you and Jarv again sometime soon. Let's get together! Hope you're enjoying the Christmas season...we sure are!!
Miss you,
Cyn

Rhea, How, I have wondered for years how you were doing. I have always wondered how the whole vet school thing was going. That was my dream for so many years. Now I feel God calling me to counselling instead.
Glad I came across yoru blog.

Hi Rhea,
I came across your blog via Amber and Stephan via Chryslyn. Funny how this blogging world works. But it is good to see what you are up too. How many more years of vet school do you have?
